CJU is turning 5!

Please join us to celebrate all that we have achieved together, reflect on what we've learned and vote in new committee members.

When: Saturday 26th October 2024, 2-4pm

Where: via Zoom https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81608182025

In order to make this accessible to as many CJU members as possible, we're holding our AGM and 5 year anniversary online via Zoom. We promise it will be participatory and relational as all our work is!

What: During our gathering you can expect to

  • Hang out and bask in the gloriousness of our CJU community and catch up with your fellow members.
  • Hear about some of the amazing work CJU members are doing (which you make possible by being a member!)
  • Participate in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) where you can hear about and vote on important matters for the org, including electing members of the committee.

AGM Agenda:

  • Welcome and connections
  • AGM formal business including:
  • Annual Report
  • Membership discussion (is our current fee structure working (no) and what do we want to do about it?)
  • Financial Report
  • New committee nominations and voting
  • Highlights from the past year
  • Upcoming priorities / what's on the horizon
  • Closing reflections

 Committee Nominations

The majority of our committee members are halfway through their 2-year terms and are not up for nomination.

We acknowledge that we begin our work as The Climate Justice Union on the Boodja (land) of the Wadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We honour the Wadjuk people and their kin in other Nations and Country across these lands and waters, who have always cared for this place and all who lived here.

We acknowledge First Nations Elders past and present, and acknowledge that those of us living here, who came from across the seas, live on land that was taken, stolen. We acknowledge the responsibility that comes with this understanding and that we personally and collectively benefit from this theft.

As such, we all have a responsibility to decolonise ourselves, our lives and work, and to heal the harm these oppressive systems have inflicted.

We are a community union and do not cover you in your workplace. All Climate Justice Union members are also encouraged to join the relevant industrial union. Click here to find your industrial Union.
